Bus Advertising Formats

External bus advertising can be either in the form of graphics, simple text or other visual information. Advertisements can be produced in multiple formats from back graphics to curbside posters and full wraps. Any type of bus wrap is going to be visible and remembered by thousands of people each day for a successful Out of Home advertising campaign.

The following bus advertising formats are ones that include window graphics and can typically be found globally, however some markets may have variations in sizes and layouts.

Billboard

Showcase Bus Wrap

Also known as Showcase / Ultra Super King / King Kong / Roadside. This small billboard style transit wrap is a flexible and popular option for Out of Home (OOH) advertising. The visual communication only covers part of the vehicle but can still be striking and cost effective. It maintains clear sight lines into the bus and passengers have the option of sitting behind the billboard (for greater privacy or solar shielding) or away from it.

Mega Side

Mega Side Bus Wrap

Also known as Full Side / Roadside Giant. This large billboard style transit wrap covers the entire exterior of the vehicle on at least one side. A high impact panel which targets drivers, passenger and pedestrians.

Portrait Side

Portrait Side Bus Wrap

Also known as Curbside. Bus wraps are an established and proven approach of Out of Home (OOH) advertising. However, you do not need to cover the entire area with window advertising. Poster sized graphics can still get your message across in a very impactful way but on a budget. Clear sight lines into the bus are maintained and graphics are easily viewed by pedestrians and waiting bus passengers.

Full Wrap

Full Bus Wrap

Also known as Bus Wrap / Total Wrap. This is the largest of all bus formats covering the entire exterior of the vehicle with a mixture of solid vinyl and perforated window film. This Out of Home (OOH) format achieves the highest penetration among passers-by in urban settings, creating an eye-catching medium with a lasting impact.

Contour Cut Graphics

Contour Cut Bus Graphic 01

Like Portrait & Curbside formats you do not need to cover the entire area with window advertising. Die-cut window decals using perforated vinyl offer creative solutions for getting your message across in a very impactful way. Clear sight lines into the bus are maintained.

Back Graphics

Rear Window Bus Graphics

Known as Full Back / Mega Rear / Portrait Back / Taillight / Bus Back. Rear transit window graphics are visible at eye level to pedestrians on both sides of the street as well as vehicle drivers and passengers. See-through performance is often less critical so advertisers can achieve a stronger image with a lower transparency product. A full or partial bus rear wrap is going to be visible and remembered by thousands of people each day, for a successful Out of Home (OOH) advertising campaign.

Side Highlite

Side Highlite

It is not always possible to full wrap every bus window with advertising. This could be because the relevant permissions have not been obtained from a transport authority. An alternative approach is to restrict the window graphics to just a small band at the top, above passenger eye level. This space can be used for signage, glass branding or bus livery. The window decals proivde the added benefit of reducing heat gain, UV and glare.

Windshield Visor

Windshield Visor

Window branding and decals at the top of the bus windshield can help reduce heat gain, UV and glare to improve the working environment for drivers. Typically used for bus livery, route promotion and glass branding rather than 3rd party advertising.
