Contra Vision Switchable Smart Film offers instant window privacy, transitioning from transparent to opaque (and back again) at the press of a button.
The product can be applied as a self-adhesive window film to existing glazing. It is also possible to supply the product as an interlayer which is sandwiched in a laminated glass construction.
How Does Smart Privacy Film Work?
The product consists of a layer of liquid crystals which is sandwiched between a transparent protective film. When a small electric current is applied to the liquid crystal layer, it causes the liquid crystals to align in one direction, allowing visible light to pass through and making the glass transparent.
When the electric current is switched off, the liquid crystals re-orientate in all directions, blocking the gaps for visible light to pass through and making the glass opaque (translucent).
The film is also very easy to maintain and clean by using low-pressure compressed air, and a soft-bristled cleaning/dusting brush. Soft IPA wipes can also be used.
