OOH Advertising for Wimbledon with Contra Vision®

Hallmark Outdoor, a London-based Out-Of-Home (OOH) Advertising company, was tasked with creating, developing, and managing an impactful OOH display for Barclays, the official banking partner of Wimbledon. This high-profile assignment required a unique product solution that would both captivate and engage the public, while maintaining natural light levels in the office where the installation was located.

The Challenge

In response, they produced a ginormous 450 square metre OOH advertisement showcasing Barclay’s “Here for Wimbledon” campaign graphic. This display was to be installed over office windows, posing a significant challenge. Using a solid window film would block out both the view from the offices and the natural light, which would make the environment inside the office uncomfortable for working.

The Solution

To address this challenge, The product chosen for this installation was Contra Vision® Campaign White on Black perforated window film in 30% transparency. This innovative one-way vision window film was ideal for the project as it allowed the graphic to be prominently displayed on the exterior while maintaining visibility and natural light for those inside the office. The 30% transparency ensured a perfect balance between image impact and light transmission, making it an ideal solution for this scenario.

For the printing of the graphic, Hallmark Outdoor turned to VGL, a renowned printing company known for its high-quality output. VGL utilized advanced printing techniques to produce a vivid and durable graphic that met the campaign’s visual and performance requirements.

Experienced installers were needed for this project and so Hallmark Outdoor enlisted the expertise of Industrial Abseiling. Industrial Abseiling’s skilled team ensured the large-scale window graphic was installed safely and accurately, despite the height and complexity of the task.

Every year, Wimbledon station attracts over 300,000 tennis enthusiasts, creating significant foot traffic around the area. The Barclays advertisement, strategically placed by Hallmark Outdoor, not only drew the attention of these visitors but also reinforced Barclays’ association with the prestigious event. The campaign’s success is a testament to the effective collaboration and innovative solutions implemented by Hallmark Outdoor, VGL, Industrial Abseiling and Contra Vision.

Did you know?

Did you know that when it comes to one-way vision window graphics that it was squash, not tennis that got the ball rolling? 1982, Roland Hill, a British engineer and squash enthusiast, invented this technology to enhance the spectator experience in squash. Hill’s innovation allowed the squash court’s glass walls to remain see-through for the audience while appearing solid to the players inside. This breakthrough soon found its application in advertising and branding, revolutionizing how window graphics are used in campaigns like the one for Barclays at Wimbledon.
