Carryduff Community Church | Backlit Signage
The Challenge
The Carryduff Community Church, which is part of the Elim Pentecostal movement, were after a new look recently in preparation for welcoming parishioners back into the church. As the church holds services in the day and in the evening, they needed a sign that stood out in the daytime and the night-time. They needed dual-color back-lit signage.
The Solution
Rainbow Signs and Maintenance, who are based in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, decided that the best product for this installation was Contra Vision® Performance™ Black Perforated Film in 20% transparency. This is a black on black perforated film intended for the production of dual-color back-lit signage.
How it works is the film is applied to the outside surface of built-up channel letters which appear black during the day, when the sign is not backlit. When the sign is backlit at night, it takes on the color of the translucent sign face used.
In this instance, white was used as the background color which makes the sign black during the day and white when backlit at night. As this is a 20% transparency film, it gives a greater night-time effect than other lower transparency products. Therefore, the Carryduff Church sign is so vibrant during the night, making the signage stand out and light the way for parishioners.
