The Opportunity

Emirates Airline wanted to showcase their sponsorship and significant investment in Lancashire’s Cricket Ground, Old Trafford, in a way that reflected the value of the investment and the heritage of the venue. The ten year deal was the largest in County Cricket and dwarfs the reported £3.5 million five-year deal that Surrey secured with car manufacturers, Kia, for the naming rights of The Oval. Contra Vision® perforated window film made it possible to utilise the full glass façade above the main entrance without compromising the daylight or the view from the inside.

The Solution

Astra Signs used Performance White on Black in 40% transparency to create the new entrance at Emirates Old Trafford and three years after it was applied, the graphics look as strong as ever. "This association highlights our continued investment in Manchester and the surrounding region, a hub which we see as vital to our operations in the UK," said Sir Maurice Flanagan, the airline's executive vice-chairman.
