Applications
Curtain Walling
Glass curtain walling has become a dominating feature of modern architecture and design. It allows natural light to penetrate deeper within buildings and enhances the spacial dynamics. However, large expanses of glass can present challenges to both the internal and external environments. Contra Vision® products offer a unique mixture of benefits to enhance glass and overcome challenges including solar heat gain, window privacy and bird collisions.
We would normally recommend Contra Vision screen printing for large expanses of glass. Contra Vision laminated glass was used to enhance the appearance of the W Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The blue circles are invisible from the inside.
Louvres
Contra Vision Louvres reduce glare while still allowing light into a building as well as also acting as a sound barrier. A Contra Vision® Printed Interlayer™ was used to enhance a Louvre system spanning 20,000m2 of glass across a large European building.
The interlayer consisted of a 50% transparent dot pattern which appears white on the outside and with a black tint effect when viewed from inside. The white helps to reflect solar energy and provide window privacy. From the inside the black dots allow an excellent view of the surrounding city.
Internal Partitions
To create window privacy and add interest to the considerable amount of glass partitioning installed at Newcastle University, Komfort applied Contra Vision perforated window film to all the partitions and doors with stunning results.
