Accelerate Action: International Women’s Day 2025

#AccelerateAction – International Women’s Day 2025

The theme for International Women’s Day in 2025 is #AccelerateAction, calling for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face.

In recognition of this, we are delighted to announce our support of Jess Kirby, an 11-year-old female karter and daughter of our Head of Finance Phil.

Despite being one of just a few sports where men and women compete together, female drivers currently only make up around 10% of all competitors.

Jess only began karting in earnest in June 2024, but has made considerable progress in that time, most recently coming 3rd in the Daytona Tamworth InKart Championship in December 2024 and earning an invite to the Daytona Motorsports Race of Champions in January of this year, regularly finishing ahead of more experienced drivers.

In 2025 Jess will be proudly displaying the Contra Vision logo on her suit as she competes in the female-only Jamie Chadwick Series at Daytona Motorsport venues, as well as the Club100 and Daniel Ricciardo Series Championships, which represent the highest level of arrive-and-drive karting in the UK, competing at tracks across the country.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have Contra Vision on board as a sponsor! More and more girls are getting involved in motorsports in recent years which is great to see but we are still very much in a minority.

I want to race at the highest level and help inspire other girls to get involved, and the only way I can do that is with the generous support of companies like Contra Vision. I hope to have a great season and make them proud of me!”

– Jess Kirby

“I have been really proud of how my daughter Jess has taken to karting over the last few months. She loves racing, is improving every time she gets out on track and seems to have a natural talent for it. When we are at races Jess is often one of a very small number of female racers in fields of 20-30 drivers. Sometimes she is the only one! There is a lot of effort being made to try and improve the number of women involved in motorsports, not just racing but within the industry as a whole, but it is still incredibly hard to move up the ladder without a lot of resources behind you.

Contra Vision prides itself on being a business with family values. It is something I see every day with the support my colleagues give to each other and is one of things I particularly enjoy about working here. This has now been demonstrated further by the support they are providing to Jess, and it is something we are both incredibly grateful to Contra Vision for.

We are proud to be showcasing Jess this International Women’s Day and to be supporting her in her karting development.
