Increasingly schools and universities are choosing to use Contra Vision® see-through graphics for a variety of reasons, branding, promotion, privacy, solar heat gain reduction or glare, or simply to promote a special campaign or event to highlight achievements or increase public awareness.
Boston University in the USA was one of the first to do this. The university scene in Boston is crowded with MIT, Harvard, and North Eastern Universities all competing for awareness among the public and prospective students, an issue also faced by many academic institutions in the UK.
Boston University specifically wanted to promote 50 years of success and innovation for the College of Engineering, devising the ‘50 years of Moving Society Forward’ campaign to draw attention to the innovations and benefits engineering brings to society.
A key aim was to have 24 hour visibility for signage and installations and so the university chose Contra Vision® BACKLITE™ perforated window film which, when rear-illuminated at night, stands out and makes a bold statement.
The Contra Vision® window film was applied to the entrance doors of the department and ground floor windows which allowed The School of Engineering to create a strong visual statement promoting their success.
The printing and application was managed by Seaport Graphics of Boston, Massachusetts, who used their extensive product knowledge to advise the University on which materials would best achieve their objectives, which were successfully met.
